Recent Purchases 8

Women's Botanical Flowers Short Sleeve Graphic T-Shirt: I'm not usually one for graphic tees, but I thought this one was pretty cute! I went up two sizes as other commenters had recommended and I'm glad I did. It really does run very small! Otherwise it's a nice shirt at a great price!

ASICS GEL-Excite 7 in Black/White: I really needed some new running shoes and have always had good luck with Asics. I ordered from Zappos and they came quickly and fit great.

I had purchased a different style and ended up returning them because they hurt my feet. Zappos has a 30 day runlimited guarantee so if you try them out and don't like them you can return them! (Although not every running shoe is included, so just watch for that if you purchase through them!)

Overall I really like these shoes. They're very lightweight and I've had them for probably almost 6 months now and they still look like new even though I wear them on average maybe 3-4 times a week everywhere from treadmill, to trails, to paved paths. My family all own Asics and we are all pleased with them!

SUNGAIT Vintage Round Sunglasses for Women (Polarized Grey Lens/Black Frame(matte finish)): I don't like spending a lot of money for sunglasses and I also have a hard time finding a style that I like. I came across these on Amazon and decided to give them a try. They're extremely lightweight and the polarization is nice. These even come with a cleaning cloth, a pouch to keep them in, and a tiny tool to tighten the screws should them come lose. They're great sunglasses for the price.

Jersey Paper-bag Pants: These pants may not look as great as pictured, but they look much better on! I really like that they're kind of vintage inspired. They're not too high-waisted, but sit right at your natural waist. The material, being jersey, is soft and stretchy, but it's thicker than I expected which is great! I haven't gotten a chance to wear them yet but am looking forward to wearing them!

Round-neck T-shirt in Mauve: The fit of these t-shirts is all over the place. I've purchased several over the last few years and I have them in 3 different sizes! This one, I had to size down in. The problem I have with them is they tend to be very boxy, so I would recommend sizing down. I guess you could say they work better as a more fitted tee instead more loose fitting. Anyways, I really liked the color of this tee!

Luxe Printed Swing Tank in Black & White Dots: I have quite a few of these tanks from Old Navy and decided to add the black and white dots to my closet. I like that these tanks are on the longer side and loose fitting. I like to wear them with either leggings or skinny jeans and a fitted cardigan.

Butter French Terry Lounge Jogger Pant: I had some joggers I purchased from Target several years ago that I really love, but they are so worn out and have a couple of holes in them so it was high time for some new ones. I have had a hard time finding anything similar to what I had, until I came across these! They are very soft and comfortable. They are pretty lightweight which I like, although if you are looking for something to keep you really warm these probably won't do the trick. These seem to run big as I was able to size down in them.

Fort Monroe

We go out to Fort Monroe often to go for walks along the beach, but for some reason we hadn't visited the inner part of the fort before. My brother was down visiting and while the two of us were out there he asked if we had been inside the walls yet. We spent a bit of time walking around and checking the place out. There is a visitor center, but it was closed while we were there.

There is over 400 years worth of history at Fort Monroe! It was decommissioned as an active Army installation in 2011. (You can read more about Fort Monroe and it's history here!

It's pretty weird to walk around and imagine all the soldiers being stationed here during past wars and what it must've been like. Especially when you see signs for fallout shelters! Surprisingly, people still live in some of the old officer's houses.
It certainly feels like you are stepping back in time when you visit Fort Monroe!
Have you ever visited an old military fort?

Currently

Hi! It's been a little while! I thought I would pick back up with a post about what I've been up to lately. Which hasn't been much to be honest. The blogging break was definitely unintentional, I just haven't been doing very much lately!

Working On - Editing some pictures. My mom and I took a quick trip to Asheville, NC, last month to do some hiking and I have some pictures I need to finish sorting and editing.

I'm also working on figuring out my Thanksgiving grocery list. Since Thanksgiving food is not something I make on the regular, it always takes a bit of time to go through recipes and see what I have and what I need. We bought a couple of turkey breasts to cook this year instead of a whole turkey. They're easier and no one in my family likes dark meat anyways, so it just made more sense to cook those.

Needing - To finish figuring out my Christmas presents for my family. I've purchased a couple of things and have a few ideas for other family members, but now I need to come up with something different for my sister because she purchased the item I had already bought for her.

Reading - I just finished reading When We Were Young and Brave by Hazel Gaynor. I really enjoyed it. It was very well written so I could easily imagine what was going on and how things looked. It had great characters, and the plot was really interesting. It did have some sad moments in it, but I enjoyed how they always tried to find the light in such a dark and tragic situation.

Buying - Joggers. I've needed some new ones for a while and I got these ones from Target and then I just bought these ones from American EagleIt has finally just gotten slightly cool enough to wear them so I'm happy about that!

Watching - We've been watching The Amazing Race, Shark Tank, Dateline, The Voice and some random ID Channel shows. On Netflix we've been watching The Great British Baking Show each week. And we finished Volume 2 of Unsolved Mysteries which was really good! Also, my sister and I are watching the second season of The Mandalorian on Disney+.

Trying - To find some new t-shirts! Why is it so hard to find a basic t-shirt? I like something with a curved hem and either a crew neck or scoop neck. I hate that they're either tight and clingy or large and boxy! I want something that is soft, loose, but fitted (if that makes sense. Not tight but not boxy either.), comes in lots of colors (most are just either black or white.) and aren't over $20 a piece. That doesn't seem like asking for much but apparently it is. I shouldn't have to spend over $20 for just a simple t-shirt. Anyways. Sorry for the t-shirt rant! ;)
