Five for Friday

Hello and welcome to my Five for Friday! Today I am linking up with Andrea!

1. We went to the botanical garden last week. There is something new blooming every time we visit so it's always nice to see what's there! It was really hot, so we didn't stay very long, but it was nice to get out of the house for a bit.
2. I ordered a couple clothing items from Target and was really surprised to see how they packaged my items.

Yes, that is a plastic bag and a regular old zip tie. I mean, really Target? Zip ties?
3. I decided to stop and get my hair cut earlier this week. It's been a year since I have gotten my hair cut! When I went a year ago the lady cut it way shorter than I had wanted, so I needed it to grow out a bit and now it's right where I want it. I'm so glad to have gotten a trim! It's amazing how much of a difference a fresh cut makes!

4. I mentioned this on Wednesday's post, but if you are looking for a great dessert (especially to have in hot weather!) than you have got to try this Oreo layer dessert! I've made it twice already and my family really enjoyed it.

5. In case you missed it, on Monday I shared my June photo a day pictures, and then on Wednesday I shared a currently post!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Currently

Working on - Scrapbooking. I finally sent some pictures in to Costco to get printed and so now I have some scrapbook pages to work on. I did finally get started on my Europe scrapbook (from when we went 5 years ago now!) and need to keep going on that book. I haven't really been in a creative mood lately so I try not to force it, otherwise I end up with pages I don't like.

Looking forward to - Cooler weather. It has been SO hot and humid here in Virginia that it's pretty awful. You literally can't do anything outside without sweating. Even at 8am it's 85° outside with 85% humidity, which means it feels like 96°.

We like to get out and go for hikes and walks and it's annoying not being able to do that right now!

Watching - My sister and I watched My Spy on Amazon Prime and it was pretty funny. If you liked The Game Plan then you should like this.

My mom and I watched Athlete A on Netflix, which is about the USA Gymnastics scandal. The content is definitely disturbing and horrifying considering how long the abuse was going on and no one did anything, but the documentary is well done.

We've also watched through Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix. My mom and I watch a lot of Dateline and the ID channel so we were really into this. I highly recommend! So good and mysterious. The first episode especially!

And on regular TV we've been watching America's Got Talent. We just started that new show on CBS called Tough as Nails, which so far isn't too bad.

Eating - Lots of berries! And then I have made this no bake Oreo layer dessert twice over the past month since it was so good! I made a half recipe the first time and it got eaten up really fast so I made it again over the 4th and it is just so good. I used homemade chocolate pudding which made it extra delicious!

Listening to - My sister told me about the True Spies podcast so I've been listening to that. It's described as, "True stores, told by true spies." It's hosted by Hayley Atwell (Agent Peggy Carter in the Marvel movies and of the Agent Carter TV show.) I've listened to all the current episode and so far it's been pretty interesting! It's a well done podcast and if you are into spies and espionage and stuff like that, you should enjoy this podcast.

Reading - I've somehow read a whopping 11 books in June and only finished 3 (on my 4th) so far this month. Not sure how that is possible, but I've obviously been doing a lot of reading lately!

Most of what I've read has been kind of mediocre. Not bad, but not really great either. A couple books worth mentioning are The Promise of Jesse Woods, which was a surprising read. I'd never read anything by this author before but I did enjoy this book. The writing was really well done and the scene and characters were described so well I was able to vividly picture everything in the story which made for a nice read. This was a hard book for me to put down because I kept wanting to know what was going to happen! It didn't end how I expected which I could appreciate. It wasn't necessarily a sad ending, but I guess you could say something more realistic to life and not the typical everything is suddenly perfect happy ending.

If I Were You was an interesting read as well. I felt like the book dragged in some parts but I also felt like it could have used another chapter or something at the end because it felt rushed and just like it needed something more at the end. Overall it was a decent book though.

Have you read any good books lately?

Buying - I bought a new pair of sunglasses. I realized the ones I had were scratched and so I had to get some new ones. I ordered these from Amazon and I like them. I don't like to spend a lot of money on sunglasses, so for being less than $15 they're pretty great.

What have you been up to lately?

My June 2020 Photo A Day Pictures

I don't know why I struggle with the alphabet challenge photo lists. I guess because there are some letters that are just a lot harder than others to come up with ideas for!

I ended up just using old photos for a lot of them, which I don't like doing but I was really stumped. Like the letter J. All I could think of was jam. Which doesn't really make an interesting picture so I just ended up with my July calendar page. Not super interesting either but at least I got it done I guess! Anyways, here are my pictures for the month:

Five for Friday

Hello and welcome to my Five for Friday! Today I am linking up with Andrea!

1. The USAF Thunderbirds were in town a little over a week ago and we stopped by to watch them practice. There is just something so incredible about watching them fly! (Here's some more pictures from when we saw the Thunderbirds at an airshow a few years back!)
2. I ordered some coffee from Peet's recently and was excited when my order came! I'm pretty particular about my coffee so it's nice being able to order exactly what I like!
3. We toured the Battleship Wisconsin in Norfolk this past Wednesday. It was really hot and humid out, which made walking around the deck not so great, but despite that it was pretty neat to see!
4. The weather here has been super hot and humid the last few weeks, so when the temperature was just slightly lower yesterday we decided to brave it and go for a walk at Fort Monroe. There is a tropical storm brewing off the coast of North Carolina so we are looking at a lot of rain over the next week or so, so getting out for a walk was nice-even if it was really hot.
5. In case you missed it, on Monday I shared a fun twenty questions post

Hope you have a great weekend!
