Norfolk Botanical Garden - Part 3

My mom and I have so enjoyed our times visiting the botanical garden. Each time we visit there seems to be something new blooming! I can certainly see us getting a lot of use out of our membership!

Five for Friday

Hello and welcome to my Five for Friday! Today I am Linking up with Andrea and A Cup of Joe!

1. I had a nice day with my mom on Mother's day. My mom talked with my brother for a couple of hours and then we went out to Fort Monroe to go for a walk. While we were there we saw a bunch of dolphins again! The weather was really nice and we saw lots of families out walking and enjoying the fresh air and watching the dolphins. The dolphins were really putting on a show that day!

For dinner my mom requested grilled chicken, strawberry spinach salad, and oven fries, so I made that. And then we just ended the day by watching some tv.

2. On Monday I made some chicken tortilla soup which we enjoyed for a couple of nights. But then the weather decided to get hot so I ended up just freezing the soup last night because who wants soup when it's 75°?

3. On Tuesday my mom and I went back to the Norfolk Botanical Garden to check out all the roses that have been blooming. We went about a week or so ago and they were just starting to bloom, so it was nice to see them all in full bloom! It was amazing to see just how many different varieties of roses there are!

I didn't have my camera with me, just my phone, so I am hoping to go back sometime next week with my camera and get a bunch of pictures!
4. And then on Wednesday the local air force base did a flyover with two P-51 Mustangs and an F-22 which was neat to see. They were supposed to fly directly over us but then they turned so we didn't get as good of a view as we had hoped. It was still neat to watch though!
Hope you have a great weekend!

Recent Purchases 7

Waffle Knit Knot Top in Dark Green: I got this top for Christmas and I really like it! I've been eyeing it for a while and was happy to receive it. The dark green color is nice, it's longer in the back (not quite tunic length, but close.) which is great, and the tie is adjustable. The buttons are also functional if that matters to you or not.

A lot of the reviews recommend sizing up two sizes for a looser fit, but I only sized up one size and it's a bit baggy. I wanted it kind of fitted, but not too tight or anything. It's meant to be a baggy fit so just take that into account if you're thinking of purchasing it.

Daily Ritual tunic tee in Medium Blue and Dusty Rose: I really like these tees! It's so hard to find decent tunic length tees (I'm 5'8" and they're never long enough!) and these are great! The medium blue is a really pretty color and the dusty rose is somewhere between red and pink. It's not a true rose color as it's close to red, but definitely not a red either. It's just lighter in color than in the picture. I wear these all the time and would highly recommend them! They're fairly inexpensive too which is great!

No Show socks from Amazon: Normally I wouldn't even mention socks, but I think we've all had issues finding decent no-show socks. These had a lot of good reviews so I thought I would have them a try and I was really surprised at how great they are! They truly stay on and don't slide off.

They have a rubber grip along the back of the heel to keep them on and they do stay on. I've worn them with multiple types of shoes (loafers, flats, oxfords.) and they've stayed on every time. The material is not too thin but also not too thick either.

Women's Short Sleeve V-Neck Button-Front Tie Waist Dress in Red: This dress is listed as red but it is definitely more of a burnt orange like in the picture. This typically is not a color I would gravitate towards, but I liked the style of the dress a lot and decided to just get it anyways. There are a couple of other colors (a mint green, lilac, and yellow) but I ended up liking the red the best. Overall just a cute spring dress.

Women's Floral Print Puff Short Sleeve Button-Front Dress in Red: The Universal Thread line at Target has been doing a great job with dresses this season and considering how much I like vintage inspired styles, this was one dress I just couldn't pass up!

The print is a little busier than I would normally prefer, but overall I really like this dress.

Luxe Printed Swing Tank in Burgundy Dot: These tanks from Old Navy are always a favorite of mine. I think I share one every time I do one of these posts because I like them so much! It doesn't look like this color is available any longer, but there are always new colors and prints coming out!

Mid-Rise Linen-Blend Shorts in Red Sumac: These shorts are also a favorite of mine. I already have them in black and chambray, and decided to get the red as well. I really prefer lightweight shorts in the summer and these are great. I find them to be a bit pricey for the quality at full price (I mean, they're nice quality, but $27 for shorts at Old Navy seems like a lot.), but they're frequently on sale which is great.

Have you purchased any new clothes lately?
