Visiting Mission ConcepciĆ³n

One of the other missions we visited while we were in San Antonio was Mission ConcepciĆ³n. According to the National Parks Service website, the mission was dedicated in 1755. The NPS website also states that the mission, "stands proudly as the oldest unrestored stone church in America."

One of the unique things about this mission is that you can still see some of the original frescos, which are in some of my pictures in the middle of this post.
Have you ever visited a mission or historic church?

Five for Friday

Hello and welcome to my Five for Friday! I am Linking up with Bright on a BudgetDella DevotedBYBMG and Andrea!

1. Last Sunday we went to Christmas Town at Busch Gardens! They had a deal for purchasing early tickets so we decided to go. This was our first time attending and I'm sure it won't be our last! The amusement park is decorated in over 10 million lights! Since it's early in the Christmas season there weren't too many people at the park which made it really nice. A lot of the rides were still open (if it's under 40° they will shut down the roller coasters, but it was just above 40° so my sister was able to ride on several of their roller coasters which she really enjoyed!)

The park itself was so pretty. We arrived just after it opened at 2pm, and stayed until almost 8. We walked so much! It was nice to see the park in the daylight, but then we walked back through it again after it got dark so we could really see all the lights. I have quite a few more pictures I'll be sharing in an upcoming post!
2. It's been a busy week around here! I try to do Thanksgiving shopping early because I hate going the week of Thanksgiving since it's always so crazy busy. That meant I had to go to practically every store in our area because I needed a few things from each place. So I had to stop by Costco, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Wegman's, and Kroger! I'll just have to pick up some fruit next week, but otherwise we're ready for Thanksgiving!

3. While I was at Trader Joe's I picked up this advent calendar. Generally when I find advent calendars I'll look at what's inside and it's usually stuff I won't use, but I was surprised that all of the items inside were things I would actually use!

Do you buy an advent calendar for yourself?
4.  My mom buys us Hallmark ornaments every year and this is the one I picked out! I've been getting the little penguins for quite a few years now. They're pretty cute!
 5. We went out to Fort Monroe yesterday to go for a walk, and as we pulled into the parking lot my sister goes, "Is that a submarine?" I looked up and sure enough there was a submarine passing by! We hurried up to the pathway along the water and got to see a submarine pass by! It was headed toward the naval station.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Five for Friday

Hello and welcome to my Five for Friday! I am Linking up with Bright on a BudgetDella DevotedBYBMG and Andrea!

1. I mentioned last week that my mom, sister, and I all got new phones, so we decided to go for a walk on Sunday to try out the camera! I can't believe how much better the camera is compared to the one on my 5S!
2. On Wednesday my mom and I went and saw the movie Harriet. We went to the Cinemark where they had really comfortable recliners and tables at all the seats which was really nice!

Last year my mom, sister, and I went to visit the Berkeley Plantation which is near-ish to where we live. After we arrived we found out the Harriet movie was being filmed there! We actually toured the plantation with a couple of the guys who were working on the movie.

It was pretty neat to actually visit the plantation that is in the movie! If you you are interested you can see my post about our visit here!
3. We got our first snowfall on Wednesday. It didn't last too much longer after I took this picture, but it did look pretty while it lasted!
4. Did you get Disney+? We got a year free through Verizon so we have been watching it every night! So far we've watched The Mandalorian, Zootopia, Mulan, The Rescuers, and quite a few episodes of The Suite Life on Deck.

Zootopia was pretty good. My mom and I hadn't seen it before but my sister recommended it and it was pretty funny! I would definitely recommend it if you haven't seen it yet!

I'm not sure what we're going to watch tonight, well, the second episode of The Mandalorian probably, but besides that I don't know!

What have you been watching?
5. In case you missed it, on Monday I shared our visit to Mission San JosĆ© in San Antonio, TX.
Hope you have a great weekend!
