Five for Friday

Hello! I am linking up with Della DevotedCoffee With CaitlinCup of Tea and Bright on a Budget for another edition of Five for Friday!

1. I bought some water color paints a few weeks ago and decided to try them out. I always like the way water color paintings look, so I thought it would be fun to give it a try!

2. America's Got Talent started this past week. Did you watch it?  We've been watching it for quite a few years. I think it's interesting to see all the different acts! I just hope they don't show too many stupid acts this year!

3. I spent last night doing some blogging, eating ice cream and watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2. I'd say that's a good way to end the day!
4. I found this recipe for croissants on Pinterest and I really want to try to make them. It doesn't look as hard as I thought it would. Just time consuming. I bet homemade croissants would be SO good!

5. Summer has definitely arrived here! It's supposed to get into the 90's this weekend! I am SO not looking forward to that! I am definitely a Washington girl. Anything over like, 75 is hot for me! I would never survive in the south, where you have the heat and humidity!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Hiking at Celebration Park, Idaho

My mom was looking for something to do, and came across Celebration Park online. There were some hiking trails out there and we thought we would go and check it out.

My mom didn't think it was that far from where we lived, but it seemed to take forever to get there! We drove for a long time out on country roads seemingly off into the middle of nowhere; but finally, we made it to the park.
We didn't walk around for too long, because this was after my dad had had surgery and we didn't want to do anything too strenuous, but it was nice to get out, get some fresh air, and walk around a bit!

Do you like hiking?

Wasilla & the Iditarod Headquarters

Alaska part 1 , Alaska part 2 , Alaska part 3

So this is the last post in my Alaska trip.

My dad and I had planned on spending out last full day in Alaska by driving out somewhere. We figured we would go out to Wasilla, then drive somewhere else.

My dad had had his follow-up surgery appointment but ended up getting sent down the the ER. So we spent the morning in the ER before my dad was released. Then we decided to just drive to Wasilla and back.

The drive was pretty and the weather was great! Not too hot and not too cold!

The mountains were so pretty! I never get tired of mountains!
We decided to stop by the Iditarod headquarters.
As we were driving back to Anchorage, we stopped by a lake I had spotted on the drive to Wasilla. We stopped and walked around for a little bit before heading back to our hotel in Anchorage.

Five for Friday

Hello! I am linking up with Della DevotedCoffee With CaitlinCup of Tea and Bright on a Budget for another edition of Five for Friday!

1. While in Alaska, I picked up one of the Alaska Starbucks coffee mugs. My brother got me a Starbucks mug from Saarbrücken, Germany and now I think I want to collect the Starbucks mugs. I have a bit of a coffee mug collection anyways, and I like to travel, so it makes sense for me to collect them! The inside of the mug is the dark blue seen on the mountain and the moose.
2. After much searching, I finally found a basic black dress. I have been searching for one to wear while in Europe, and I think this one will work out perfectly! I had seen it at Old Navy a while ago, but thought it looked kinda frumpy on the hanger. I was there earlier this week and saw it was on sale and decided to try it on. I was surprised to find it didn't look too bad!

3. I finally got a hair cut this week. I've needed one for quite a while, so it was nice to finally get that done!

4. My cousin came this past week. We hadn't seen her since last summer, so it was so fun spending time with her! We spent a lot of time talking and laughing, which is always nice! :)

5. Would anyone be interested in doing some swap guest posting? If you're interested, sent me an email at nicolealiciablog@gmail.com! I would love to work with some other bloggers!

Have a great weekend!

Alaska

Alaska part 1 & Alaska part 2

As my dad and I were driving back from Portage Glacier, we stopped by this park I had seen on the drive up. It looked pretty (since it was on the water.) and I thought I would be able to get a few neat pictures.

Well, I got more than a few pictures! I'm glad I stopped, it was much prettier than I had thought when we first drove by!

It was so quiet and peaceful. It was just a really nice place to stop and take in the scenery.

Portage glacier, Alaska

Alaska Part 1

As my dad and I were driving out along Turnagain arm, we stopped at Portage glacier.

We stayed there for a little while, just walking around and admiring the view. We were pretty much the only people there (there were a couple other cars there, but they left shortly after we arrived.) It was really quiet and peaceful.
It was still pretty cold, so there were lots of ice floes in the water. And the glacier was covered in snow, so it wasn't as impressive to look at. It was still interesting though!

Have you ever seen a glacier?

Alaska recap - Turnagain arm

After my dad was released from the hospital, we decided to do a little sightseeing just to get my dad out to get some fresh air and walk around a bit.
My dad thought it would be fun to drive out along Turnagain arm, which is along the Cook inlet.

I didn't bring my camera with me, because I was planning on being at the hospital most of the time. I definitely did not expect to do any sightseeing! It was a beautiful day and it was so nice to get out and drive around a bit!

And because I never get tired of mountains...
 My dad and I.
Have you ever been to Alaska?
