October Ipsy Glam Bag Review

tarte deluxe lifted sweatproof mascara: When I first opened this I had a hard time telling if it was black or brown, and upon looking at other reviews it seems most people agree it is closer to a brown color. Besides the fact it's not black like I prefer, it's really just an average mascara. Okay is really the only word I can think of to describe it. I know a lot of people really love tarte mascaras, but I just am not a fan.

TONYMOLY Peach Hand Cream: This hand cream rubbed in really quickly and did not leave my hands feeling greasy at all. It smells quite nice and is actually pretty moisturizing-more than I thought it was going to be. 

Cute Balms Lip Balm in Vanilla: The scent/flavor of this is nice and the macaron container was cute. Had this been in a tube I would have liked it a lot better as I am not really a fan of lip balm you apply with your finger. But overall the lip balm is fairly moisturizing.

Nail Medic Charcoal Infused Nail Polish in Volcanic Ash: While this definitely still has that nail polish smell, it didn't seem to be as strong as most others. While gray isn't a color a typically go for, it did look nice once it was on. I was expecting since it was a lighter color I would have to do several coats, one coat was enough when applying. I did start to notice a couple of small chips after day 2, but I am on day 4 of wearing it and only have a couple of small chips. 

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion: This does glide on super easily and is quite bold. On the other hand, since it does glide on so easily it is really easy to make mistakes when applying! It also does not sharpen to a fine point, closer to crayon like than a pencil. I prefer to use this for lining my waterline.

Overall this was a pretty decent bag. There wasn't really any products that I just loved, but the only one I really didn't care for was the mascara. The rest of the items were nice. Nothing too exciting but all were fun to try.

Five for Friday

1. I had been seeing advent calendars popping up everywhere lately and I decided to order the Sephora advent calendar earlier this week. I'm excited to use it this December! I haven't had an advent calendar since I was probably a kid, and even then I don't really remember having one. Anyways, this one actually had a lot of great stuff in it. So it should be fun! Do you buy an advent calendar? 

2. Another fun thing I got this week was this label maker! I like using it for when I'm scrapbooking and this one even has numbers on it. It's really easy to use and best of all it's only $6!

3. I am very picky about my coffee and finding a decent coffee creamer is really hard. There is basically zero options for something organic, and I don't like all the chemicals in regular coffee creamer, so I found some recipes and just made my own. It was really easy and it tastes way better than store bought! 

I used one can of sweetened condensed milk, 1 3/4 cups of milk (the recipe called for 1 1/2, but I don't like my creamer too sweet so I added some more milk), and 2 tablespoons of good vanilla. Just be sure to put it in a container that you can shake up (a mason jar with a lid would work fine.).

4. I guess this is turning out to be a list of new things I've gotten recently but I also ordered some new slippers from Zappos last week. My old ones were literally falling apart and it was definitely time for some new ones! These are really comfortable and seem really well made.

5. And last but not least it's Stranger Things day! We are pretty excited about the second season! My sister and I finished season 1 last night and are planning on spending the day binge watching season 2 and later getting pizza from our favorite pizza place. Should be a fun day! Is anyone else planning on watching?

Five for Friday

1. We did end up going to the air show last Sunday and it ended up being pretty fun! We got to see the Canadian Snowbirds as well as the USAF Thunderbirds! I have quite a few pictures from the show that I'll be posting soon!

2. I've gotten a good start on my Christmas shopping this week and I've already gotten several gifts! I usually try to be done by the beginning of December that way I don't have to think about it anymore. And I also hate shopping when it's really busy, so I try to avoid the crowds as much as I can! And I just really enjoy giving gifts to my family! 

3. I don't really know of any great places to get pictures of the fall colors, but I've really been enjoying this tree in our backyard! Well, not technically our yard, but close enough! It's even prettier in person! 

4. The weather has been ridiculous the last couple of weeks. We went from freezing in the mornings and having to scrap ice off the windshields to what ended up being 77° yesterday!

5. My sister and I started re-watching Stranger Things last night in preparation for season 2 starting next Friday! Is anyone else excited about it?

Five for Friday

1. Well, the most exciting bit of news around here was the release of the new Star Wars trailer as well as movie tickets being released! We're big Star Wars fans so we are really excited about it! We were able to get tickets for opening night, which also happens to be my birthday! None of us have ever been to a movie opening night, so it should be really fun!

2. Along the same line as my #1, whether or not you are a Star Wars fan, on The Tonight Show they had Shaq do all the voices on the Star Wars trailer and it is SO FUNNY! You have to skip to 3:25 on the video but it is so worth it. Makes me laugh every time!

3. I'm not usually a fruity flavored candy fan, I typically pick chocolate over anything else, but these fruit chews are SO GOOD! They are so much better than Starburst. There's several other flavors but the pomegranate & nectarine is my favorite! I haven't found them locally, but I usually add them to my cart on Amazon whenever I make an order.

4. There is an air show this weekend in our area and since we live near the airport we got to see the Thunderbirds and the Snowbirds flying overhead practicing.  We got to see them fly in formation which was pretty neat! We weren't planning on going at first, but I think we might go now. Have you ever been to an air show? 

5. My mom and I were at Costco earlier this week and they had this huge pile of puzzles along with the one below. It's just so weird. I'm not sure why anyone would buy a puzzle like that. It is just too weird!

Five for Friday

1. This week has been all about getting stuff done! I've had some things on my to-do list for so long and I finally just tackled them all. Well, almost all of them. (I've got one left I'm still working on.) But it's so nice to finally cross some things off!

2. I picked these up at Trader Joe's last week and they are so good! I've had the mini peanut butter cups which are really good, but these are great too! I think I actually like the bigger ones better. Which is odd because I typically like the mini version of anything the best.

3. I ordered this nail polish from Sephora back in January (it was on clearance) and they've since stopped carrying the brand (but I found it on Amazon if you're interested.) and I'm really liking the color. I typically gravitate toward darker nail colors for some reason and this is a great dark cranberry color which is perfect for fall.

4. Since it's fall and it's gotten a little cooler, I decided to make some soup! I made my first batch of minestrone soup with rosemary and olive oil focaccia for dinner earlier this week and it was so good! What's your favorite kind of soup?
