Friday Favorites

Hello and welcome to my Friday Favorites! Today I am linking up with Andrea!

1. We went grocery shopping last Friday and I picked up this pretty bouquet of flowers at Trader Joe's!
2. Last Saturday my mom and I had a full day! She wanted to go downtown Greenville to check out the farmer's market that was just starting up. So we spent a little time there and my mom got a few herb plants and we found some organic ground beef to try. We were looking for produce too but they really didn't have anything.

Then my mom wanted to visit this fabric warehouse she had found online. It's only open to the public a few days a month and she had been wanting to go for a while. My mom had purchased some dress patterns and finding clothing fabric has been hard! JoAnn's hasn't had what we were looking for and while there are lots of options online for fabric, fabric is one of those things we prefer to see in person so you can feel and see it. For example, 100% cotton can all feel very different!

This warehouse was pretty big and there was a good amount of people there. They had SO much fabric! Everything from upholstery fabric to outdoor fabric, to faux furs, and lace. Everything except fabric for making clothes. Which is of course the one thing we were looking for!

So while we didn't end up finding any fabric, we did find some very inexpensive crafting items.
3. We were both starving after visiting the fabric warehouse (it was after 2pm.) so we decided to stop for some burgers. We don't eat out very often but this burger place is a favorite of ours!
4. This is all the scrapbooking stuff I got. I noticed a lot of the brands sold at this warehouse were from Michael's, so I think maybe this place just sells the stuff that Michael's or JoAnn's can't sell. Anyways, I got all of this for only $14! Everything was either $0.50 or $1.00!

And if you are unfamiliar with the full price of these items, the letter stickers alone go for around $5, stamps are usually between $5-$10. So it was definitely a really good deal!
5. Then on Sunday (Mother's Day) we went to church. We had the cake my mom requested. She wanted a lemon raspberry bundt cake so I made that. I used this recipe. (I added another lemon's worth of zest, folded in maybe a 1/2 cup of frozen raspberries, and left off the lemon syrup because I didn't want the extra sugar. It didn't need the syrup anyways. It was moist enough!) The cake turned out really good! And for dinner I made the meal she had requested, which was honey mustard sockeye salmon, strawberry spinach salad, and roasted herbed potatoes!
6. In case you missed it, on Monday I shared a review of the book All That It Takes by Nicole Deese, and on Wednesday I shared some of my recent purchases!
Hope you have a great weekend!

  2. Lovely flowers and that fabric warehouse sounds like something my mom and I could have easily spent hours in as well. Bummer that they didn't have dressmaking fabric. What a find on those scrapbooking items!

  3. Hello! I'm stopping by your blog and added you to my bookmark list of blogs to keep reading. Thanks for stopping and commenting on my blog as well! I love those flowers from Trader Joe's. We do have one kind of nearby us, but I don't make it to that area often enough. I've seen some beautiful flowers from there, though.

It sounds like you and your mom had a very special weekend and day together celebrating her. I love that you made her the meal and dessert that she requested! I have sons, so this is a foreign thought to me. 🤣 One of mine did offer to bring me something for lunch and I took him up on it. I thought that was nice of him to offer! I hope you enjoy your weekend!

  4. How can you call yourself a fabric warehouse and have all that fabric and none for making clothes?! Maybe this is normal (I don't sew, clearly!), but it made more LOL. My hs bestie sews and studied textile design in college, so perhaps she has run into this phenomenon! Yay for cheap scrapbooking materials, though! That stuff can get SO expensive. The cake looks amazing too!

  5. We went to Grill Marks! https://www.grillmarks.com/ They've won a lot of local and state Best Of awards (like best milkshake, fries, etc.) I would definitely recommend stopping by if you get the chance! Thanks for stopping by!

  6. It was an interesting place! I have a chair I've always wanted to reupholster, so it's something to keep in mind for that as the prices were very inexpensive! I was very happy to find the scrapbooking stuff! I haven't gotten any scrapbooking items in quite a while. Our local JoAnn's is always out of stock!

  7. Thank you! I've added you to my follow list as well! My mom and I did have a nice weekend together. How nice that your son brought you lunch! And from your post it's nice you were able to spend some time chatting with them all!

  8. I know, right? It was so weird! I mean, if you want to reupholster the cushions for your boat they had material for that, but none for a dress?! I don't know, maybe they do at other times of the year. I guess I'll have to check back some other time! I'm glad I was able to get the scrapbooking stuff. I wasn't expecting craft items because my mom just told me it was a fabric warehouse, so that was definitely a surprise! And the cheap prices were so nice because that stuff certainly is expensive!
