Hello and welcome to my Five for Friday! I am linking up with Cup of Tea , Della Devoted , and Bright on a Budget!
1. Our Fourth of July was pretty uneventful. Although it was nice to just have a lazy day around the house. We barbecued some hot dogs, had potato salad, spinach salad, fruit, and I can't remember what else! Later we made s'mores. Because is it really the Fourth if you don't make s'mores? ;)
Later that night we went downtown to watch fireworks. It was our first time going downtown to watch the fireworks (except for my brother, he went a couple of years ago.) but I was surprised at how many people were downtown! It was packed!
We ended up sitting pretty close to where they were lighting them off. And also right by a tree that was in the way. :/
It was sill a pretty good show though!
We had planned on coming back and playing with some sparklers (I mostly just wanted to get some pictures with them!), but it was just too late and we still haven't gotten around to doing them. I also didn't get around to uploading the pictures I took with my camera, so here's a couple from my phone:
2. One of my favorite things about summer is definitely all of the fresh fruit! Our local Costco has had tons of fresh, organic fruit at a pretty reasonable price. So we've been stocking up! I always forget how much I like cherries! They're just so good!
3. Hannah and I went and saw Finding Dory the other night, and we both really liked it! It was really well done and just a fun movie. I would definitely recommend it if you haven't seen it yet!
4. I found an old bag of Rice Krispies as well as a jar of marshmallow fluff in the pantry, so I decided to make some Rice Krispie treats for dessert last night. I don't even remember the last time I made them (it's been quite a while though!) but they sure tasted good! I made a chocolate peanut butter topping (I just melted chocolate chips and some peanut butter in a pan on the stove) and poured it on top.
5. So I saw this Buzzfeed article on 28 Pictures That Are True For Absolutely No Reason At All and it is SO funny! I don't know which one is my favorite. 1, 6, 7, 8? They're all pretty funny.
Hope you have a great weekend!
That chocolate-peanut butter Rice Krispie concoction looks AMAZING!! And it's funny you mention cherries... My dad loves cherries and is always trying to get me to eat them, but real cherries (i.e. not maraschino cherries) make my throat all itchy! Apparently, if you have seasonal allergies, they can also be triggered by certain foods that have similar components to your allergy! My dad thinks this is all just a ruse, but I've read a few articles about it, so it must be true, haha! Oh, and Finding Dory looks good, although I feel like I might need to watch Finding Nemo again beforehand because I saw it once in college and barely remember it! :D Hope you have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe just bought cherries this week and I am LOVING them! Ohh, I loove Rice Krispies, and even better with chocolate, PB, or both! Off to read that BF article! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThey taste so good! My mom always made Rice Krispie treats like that, so I just always have too.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting! I think it sounds plausible. Fruits and stuff are classified as coming from certain 'families' so it would make sense.
I haven't seen Finding Nemo in years, but Finding Dory is set right after Finding Nemo. They did show stuff from Finding Nemo, so while I hadn't seen the movie in years, I didn't feel like I was missing anything plot wise. You should definitely see it!
My cousin did that to me with a pen, she was all "You have to try this pen!" So I did and it was like magic. I went and bought like 10 of them because they were so great! (Pilot Precise V7 RT)
Yes! I rarely use cash and when I do I also it's always a race to get it put away as fast as possible. It doesn't help when the cashier starts checking out the next person in line like the second they hand you your change.
