Five for Friday

Hello! I am so excited to be the featured blogger at the Five for Friday linkup! Thank you to Della DevotedCoffee With CaitlinCup of Tea and Bright on a Budget for featuring me!

If you are stopping by through the linkup, thanks for dropping by! I hope you will stick around!

1. Did you have a fun 4th? We had a very low-key day. We just hung around the house, barbecued for dinner, made s'mores for dessert, and then went and watched a fireworks show. Not terribly exciting, but it was fine.
2. I've been working on my travel journal the past couple of weeks. When we were in Europe, I wanted to try to remember as much as possible, so I brought along this journal with me. Somehow I missed half a day and messed everything up, so I just started keeping notes in my phone and figured I would re-write it all once I got home. Well, now I have what ended up being 20 typed pages of content to write up! Maybe I'm a little weird, but I actually don't mind hand-writing and I like having my little journal filled with travel memories. Although it is going to take me a while to copy it all down! And, iced mochas are always good ;)
3. I was at Walmart on Wednesday and I came across some fun scrapbooking stuff! I don't usually shop at Walmart, but I was excited to find some cool things. And travel themed no less! (If you've been following along the last couple of weeks, I have been posting about my recent trip to Europe. I just finished posting about my time in London, and am going to be posting about visiting Paris next week.) Anyways, I've tried looking all over online for the travel cards, but I could only find the one large box travel cards on Amazon. (They were half the price at Walmart!) Anyways, I really liked the vintage style and think they'll look great in my scrapbook!
4. We had a pretty crazy storm Wednesday evening! I like a good storm, and I actually kind of miss the big storms we would get in Washington. Considering how dry it is here, lightning isn't exactly a good thing! We did get a bunch of rain though. The news was even reporting that it was raining so hard that the manhole covers were being pushed out of the street! Before the rains came, we had blowing dust from the strong winds. That is pretty rare for here! It reminded me of the huge dust storms we had while living in Arizona. And then we had another storm last night too!
5. And last but not least, can I get a little nerdy here for a minute? But yesterday, not one but TWO trailers for great TV shows were released! The trailer for season 9 of Doctor Who as well as the trailer for the Christmas special Sherlock episode! My sister and I are pretty excited about them! ;)

Did you do anything fun or interesting this past week?
Hope you have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Walmart is full of surprises! And I'm so glad you were featured for H54F! I'm actually OBSESSED with Doctor Who! Haha. And Sherlock is pretty amazing too. I've been waiting patiently for the new season but I wasn't upset because if they hadn't delayed it we might not have the third Hobbit movie! (Nerds unite right?) Happy Friday!

    1. I was really excited to be featured in H54F! It's surprising what you find at Walmart! I was disappointed that Target no longer sells any scrapbooking stuff, but Walmart definitely makes up for it! And with better prices too! That's true! Although I feel like I'll be an old lady by the time the new season of Sherlock comes out! haha! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I used to keep little travel journals too! And then make elaborate scrapbooks full of pictures and the notes I had jotted down! It's like we're kindred travel spirits :) Congrats on being the featured blogger and have a great weekend!

  3. Visiting from H54F. I don't go to Walmart often either, but I always find some good items in their craft section that make me wonder why I don't try there more often! Target is just closer to us, but no craft section.

Good for you for keeping notes for your travel journal. You'll love being able to go back to them and know your specific thoughts and mind set with what you were seeing!

    1. Thanks for stopping by! Oh totally! Target is closer to me as well and I definitely prefer shopping there anyways! But I am always surprised at what I find at Walmart!

Exactly! It's amazing what you forget over time!

  4. EEEEEE for Sherlock!! I'm SO excited for it. It's been way too long since new episodes.

I apprently need to go to WalMart. Those finds are really cool. I also usually tote around a journal when we travel. I haven't done it in a few years, and I need to start that back up again. It's such fun to read through them later on. I'll even stick pictures or mementos in the travel notebook on the pages and turn it into a mini scrap book.

I've really been enjoying flipping through your Europe trip posts! What a great trip! Can't wait to see Paris next. Such a fun city. Have a great weekend!!

    1. I know! It is going to be very different seeing it set in Victorian London! But still cool ;)

I always shop at Target, so I am always surprised at what I find when I do end up at Walmart. I enjoy going back and reading through old travel journals as well, it's amazing the little things you forget about!

Thanks! And I'm glad you like it! Paris was a lot of fun. I was kind of indifferent to visiting there at first, but I really, really enjoyed it! If you have never been, it is definitely somewhere you should visit someday! (Actually anywhere in France!)

Thank you! You have a great weekend as well!

  5. Congrats on being featured. Oh and I really like your idea of having a travel journal to jot down details that you otherwise might forget. I'm going to have to remember that. It's great that you're creating a scrapbook, too. I used to do that, but I got away from it.

I'm about to visit your previous posts to check out your vacation... :)
