Our Visit to The State Botanical Garden of Georgia Part 2

We really didn't see too many flowers while at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, most of what we did see was kind of random. Like large bushes of rhododendrons with only a couple of flowers left, or random patches of peonies or poppies.

While walking along we did see a cardinal that had landed in a tree pretty close to us. I managed to quickly snap a couple of pictures of him before he flew off. And then we saw a little bunny rabbit but I wasn't able to get a picture of him.

So while we didn't see very many flowers, we did enjoy walking around the garden. It wasn't too big but wasn't too small either. Just big enough to be able to spend a few hours walking around. I'm sure we will visit again in the future!

Our Visit to The State Botanical Garden of Georgia Part 1

A couple of weeks ago my mom and I drove down to Athens, Georgia, to check out their state botanical garden. I had been searching for a garden closer to us but wasn't able to find one. Luckily I was able to find the State Botanical Garden of Georgia! It was even free to visit!

Since it gets so much warmer in the south sooner, we were kind of between seasons as a lot of the more spring time flowers (like tulips, azaleas, and cherry blossoms.) had already bloomed yet it was still too early for more summertime flowers to be start blooming (like roses, southern magnolias, and crepe myrtles).

Despite that, we did still enjoy our time at the garden. We arrived mid-morning but it didn't take long for it to get quite warm out. We didn't have a map so we kind of just aimlessly wandered around. We spent the first part of our visit walking along the wooded paths of the shade gardens before finding a garden filled with irises. The irises had just been watered so I thought they looked quite neat with all the water droplets on them!
Did you get to visit any gardens this spring?

Friday Favorites

Hello and welcome to my Friday Favorites! Today I am linking up with Andrea!

1. We went grocery shopping last Friday and I picked up this pretty bouquet of flowers at Trader Joe's!
2. Last Saturday my mom and I had a full day! She wanted to go downtown Greenville to check out the farmer's market that was just starting up. So we spent a little time there and my mom got a few herb plants and we found some organic ground beef to try. We were looking for produce too but they really didn't have anything.

Then my mom wanted to visit this fabric warehouse she had found online. It's only open to the public a few days a month and she had been wanting to go for a while. My mom had purchased some dress patterns and finding clothing fabric has been hard! JoAnn's hasn't had what we were looking for and while there are lots of options online for fabric, fabric is one of those things we prefer to see in person so you can feel and see it. For example, 100% cotton can all feel very different!

This warehouse was pretty big and there was a good amount of people there. They had SO much fabric! Everything from upholstery fabric to outdoor fabric, to faux furs, and lace. Everything except fabric for making clothes. Which is of course the one thing we were looking for!

So while we didn't end up finding any fabric, we did find some very inexpensive crafting items.
3. We were both starving after visiting the fabric warehouse (it was after 2pm.) so we decided to stop for some burgers. We don't eat out very often but this burger place is a favorite of ours!
4. This is all the scrapbooking stuff I got. I noticed a lot of the brands sold at this warehouse were from Michael's, so I think maybe this place just sells the stuff that Michael's or JoAnn's can't sell. Anyways, I got all of this for only $14! Everything was either $0.50 or $1.00!

And if you are unfamiliar with the full price of these items, the letter stickers alone go for around $5, stamps are usually between $5-$10. So it was definitely a really good deal!
5. Then on Sunday (Mother's Day) we went to church. We had the cake my mom requested. She wanted a lemon raspberry bundt cake so I made that. I used this recipe. (I added another lemon's worth of zest, folded in maybe a 1/2 cup of frozen raspberries, and left off the lemon syrup because I didn't want the extra sugar. It didn't need the syrup anyways. It was moist enough!) The cake turned out really good! And for dinner I made the meal she had requested, which was honey mustard sockeye salmon, strawberry spinach salad, and roasted herbed potatoes!
6. In case you missed it, on Monday I shared a review of the book All That It Takes by Nicole Deese, and on Wednesday I shared some of my recent purchases!
Hope you have a great weekend!
