Visiting Mission San José

Saturday was our first full free day in San Antonio; as Thursday and Friday were filled with graduation activities. There isn't a ton of things to do in San Antonio (at least as far as I could find) and it was SO hot and humid there that it was a bit difficult to find things to do in that weather.

Despite the unbearable weather we decided to visit Mission San José. Generally when you visit historical locations there are a lot of plaques telling you the history of the place and such, but there wasn't really much information there. I also couldn't find much online about the history of the mission either. You can read a little bit about the history here if you are interested.

Fortunately the mission wasn't too busy so we were able to take lots of pictures without there being a lot of people in the way.

The architecture of the church itself was quite beautiful and made for some interesting pictures. Mission San José is free to visit and definitely a must-see if you are ever in San Antonio!
Have you ever visited a mission or historical church?

Five for Friday

Hello and welcome to my Five for Friday! I am Linking up with Bright on a Budget, Della Devoted, BYBMG and Andrea!

1. We went on a couple of walks this week. My mom found this park kind of near our house that we decided to go to. While the pictures might make it look nice and peaceful, it was actually right by the freeway so there was a lot of noise!

Once we got farther along the trail we took a path that took us away from the freeway which made it a lot better.
2. A few days later we went to the same park, but took a different trail this time. This trail was much quieter-although maybe too quiet! It was very isolated and didn't really seem the safest. My mom blamed me for making her watch too much of the ID channel. Haha. So I guess we will be finding another park next time!
3. I got a new phone yesterday! My mom, sister, and I all headed to the Apple store and we each got the new iPhone 11. We all still had the iPhone 5S, so the 11 is a major step up!

I'm really looking forward to using the much better camera! My mom and I got the lavender (seen below) and my sister got the red (which if you haven't seen is a neat candy apple red color.). There was also a yellow, teal, black, and I don't remember if there were any other colors.

I ordered a case from Amazon but I'm kind of afraid to use my phone until I have a case on it!
4. By the time we were done getting our phones it was mid-afternoon. We hadn't had lunch yet, so we decided to go to Shake Shack. I had no idea there was a Shake Shack in Virginia Beach until we happened to drive by it about a month ago, so we decided it was time to stop in. And yes, it was delicious!
5. In case you missed it, on Monday I shared my October Photo A Day pictures!

Hope you have a great weekend!

My October 2019 Photo A Day Pictures

This month was quite different since there were no prompts! On one hand, it was kind of nice that I could just take pictures of whatever I wanted, but on the other hand it was hard some days to think of something to take a picture of. Unless I was actually doing something that day I typically forgot to even take a picture.

Anyways, here is my October pictures:

Five for Friday

Hello and welcome to my Five for Friday! I am Linking up with Bright on a Budget, Della Devoted, BYBMG and Andrea!

1. We don't have anywhere to go for walks in our neighborhood, so we have had to find other places to go for walks. It's kind of annoying having to get in the car and actually go somewhere, but it is also kind of nice to be able to get out and explore parks in our area!

It's still been so warm here that the leaves have just barely started to change color. A storm came through last night and brought some cooler weather with it, so it looks like we might finally get to experience fall!
2. I always like an excuse to make themed treats for holidays, so I wasn't about to pass up making something for Halloween! I made a chocolate cake (it looks kind of big in the picture but it's only a 6" cake) and gluten-free cupcakes for my sister! They didn't turn out quite how I had imagined, but still kind of cute I guess!
3. I found this beauty box when I was at Target and thought it was a fun buy. It was only $5 and had a lot of great stuff! Most of the time when I find stuff like this it is full of stuff I will never use.

4. I picked these up about a month ago but thought I would share anyways. It took forever for the Target nearest me to finally get some fall stuff in, but I picked up this little wooden crate for $3, and the two tiered stand was only $5. I had seen people sharing that tiered stand last year and I really wanted one, but was never able to find one in store. So I wasn't about to pass up on it this time! Right now I have some makeup stuff in it, but I can see using this for many different things!
5. In case you missed it, on  Monday I shared our visit to the Dr. Pepper Museum, and on Wednesday I shared some pictures of our fall decor!
Hope you have a great weekend!
