August Target beauty box

Juice Organics Repairing Shampoo & Conditioner: First off, the shampoo and conditioner smells very nice, but the formula is just okay. It wasn't super conditioning, but it wasn't drying on my hair either. I'll have to give it a couple more tries to see how well it actually works.

I really have been wanting to find an organic shampoo, so I do like that this is organic! If you've ever tried organic shampoos and been really disappointed, compared to others, this is definitely great! But compared to the shampoo I typically use, it's just okay.

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask: Haven't tried this. I receive a Laneige face mask in literally ever Target Beauty box I've gotten, and I really don't think they're that great of a product. Not going to waste my time with another. And why is Target obsessed with them?
Olay Makeup Remover Wipes: I didn't really care for these makeup remover wipes. They didn't really work all that great (and I don't wear waterproof makeup either.) but what I really didn't like was the strong chemical smell they have.
NYC Get It All Lip Color in ExtraoridiBERRY: I actually really like the color of this lipstick, but I don't really like how it looks on me. It looks okay in the picture there, but for some reason with my natural lip color it just looks weird.
Secret Clinical Strength Smooth Solid Deodorant: I opened this up and just couldn't stand the scent. Way too strong! I don't quite get why "light and fresh" pretty much just means "super obnoxious fake 'clean' scent."

CoverGirl Katy Kat Eye Mascara: This mascara is terrible. Pretty much because the wand is awful! It's weird and twisted so there aren't bristles over the whole thing, which leaves my lashes gooey and wet. I've used Covergirl mascara in the past and thought it worked fine, but this stuff is pretty bad. I'm just glad I got this as a sample and didn't waste my money on it!

I really thought it was just the wand that was bad, so I actually tossed the brush that came with this and used the brush from an old tube of Maybelline mascara I typically use, and the formula of this mascara is just bad. It doesn't really stick to my lashes and I had to use about three coats to even be able to see it. Pretty much the worst mascara ever.
Crest 3D White Whitestrips Professional Effects: I had used Crest whitestrips years ago (like right after they first came out.) and I thought they worked pretty good. They've since changed the formula and I'm not so sure about them. The strips are better, they adhere to your teeth instead of sliding around like they used to, but I'm not kidding when I say they adhere to your teeth - they're hard to get back off!

I didn't notice a difference after one use (not that I was really expecting any difference. I know it takes a few times!) but I think I would just stick with the Crest whitening toothpaste instead of bothering with the strips.
Up & Up Women's 5-Blade Razor: I am not a fan of these razors. First of all, the razor head is huge and awkward. The moisturizing strip is okay, but it's so thick I really couldn't get a close shave. Wouldn't recommend these.
Overall, I was kind of disappointed with this box. I initially thought this was going to be a great box, considering these are pretty much all products I use on a regular basis, but most of the products just didn't live up to their expectations. (I'm looking at you, CoverGirl mascara.)

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think?

  1. Ooh, that is a pretty meh box. Is the Target one $10? (I got a surprisingly good Walmart beauty box this week - will be posting about it soon!)

And have you tried Lush for shampoo? Lots of natural, organic options! (My fav conditioner from them is even vegan, even though I'm not.)

  3. Yeah, I was kind of surprised at how average this one was. Pretty much all of the products are stuff I use on a regular basis, but none of them were really all that great. I believe this one was $10. They range in price from $5, $7, and $10 depending on what's in them. I keep forgetting that Walmart has a box!

I haven't looked Lush yet! I'll have to go in there sometime. The one in my area is not in a part of town I typically stop at, but I'm going to have to remember to stop by one of these days!

  4. I know! I was hoping it would be better since they're all products I use on a regular basis, but they just weren't what I was hoping for! But yes, hopefully next time will be better!
