Five for Friday

Hello and welcome to my Five for Friday! I am linking up with Cup of Tea , Della Devoted , and Bright on a Budget!

1. My sister's birthday was last Friday, and she wanted a funfetti cheesecake. I don't make cheesecake very often (they're kind of a pain and take so long to set!) But since it was her birthday, I made her one!

I used this recipe, but used an Oreo crust because that is what Hannah wanted. I also used half the amount of sugar the recipe called for and didn't add any sugar to the crust since it was an Oreo crust. The recipe seemed like it used a ton of sugar! We didn't notice any difference and it tasted good. Even though I overbaked it slightly (our oven is a piece of crap.) it was still really creamy and good!
Hannah also wanted cinnamon rolls for her birthday breakfast, so I made those too! I always like to add apple to the middle, and it's really good like that!

2. Has anyone watched any new fall shows? Or planning on watching anything? I know some stuff started up this week, but has there been anything good on? We started watching The Voice. I hadn't planned on watching it, but it's been okay so far.

Hawaii Five-0 and Shark Tank start tonight, so we'll be watching those!

3. I also was at Target earlier this week and picked up these two cute little guys!
4. I did the Patronus quiz on Pottermore (I finally made an account! I hated their old website and couldn't bring myself to make an account, but I like the new site.) and my Patronus is a blackbird. I'm not really surprised I got a bird, but not sure how I feel about a blackbird! Not as regal as a stag or interesting like a fox or something, but not bad either I guess!

I also got sorted into Gryffindor, so I'm happy about that. I was a bit surprised at that too. I had done an unofficial sorting hat quiz and it put me in Hufflepuff.
5.  In case you missed it, I shared a review of the August Target beauty box and then on Wednesday I shared a currently post!
Hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. I did my patronus quiz too and my patronus is a Dolphin. I'm not sure how I feel about this! Haha! I am loving some of the new fall shows - Speechless, This Is Us, and Notorious! #H54F :) *erica* www.lookingtothestars.com

  3. I didn't like that the quiz was timed! I had to re-do it a couple of times because I was taking too long to answer the questions. I bet if I could re-do it I'd get a different Patronus!

I haven't watched This Is Us yet! I keep hearing so much about it, I'll have to check it out!

  4. They were so good! I don't make cinnamon rolls or cheesecake hardly ever, so having both in the same weekend was great! A lot of work baking it all, but so delicious! I love little woodland creatures, so I couldn't pass them up! And they were pretty inexpensive, so definitely a win in my book!

  5. That cake looks awesome! Funfetti cakes always look so fun in pictures :) I'm sure it was delicious too! And those are some cute fall guys from Target! I should probably stay away from Target now that I like fall, haha!

And OMG Target has new Fall birds??? I'm obsessed with those little guys - have 2 fall & 2 winter from last year so far! Time to grow the flock!

  7. That cheesecake looks amazing! I've never made one but I may need to try this recipe. I've also been craving cinnamon rolls, so those may need to happen soon, too...

  9. Both of those treats look yummy! I'm such a cinnamon roll person. I love the idea of putting apple in it! Genius! I need to try that. Any leftover cheesecake to eat this weekend??

  11. Haha! I know, I'm too nice ;) Yeah, I don't know what my sister is going to do when she doesn't have me around to bake her elaborate cakes anymore!

Yes! They have several and they are all really cute! They had one little bird with a top hat that I almost got, but I liked this one with the bow tie better. I don't remember seeing winter birds last year, but I'm definitely going to be on the lookout this winter!

  12. It was really good! Cheesecake is kind of tricky to bake, (always wrap the bottom in tin foil where the springform sides connect with the bottom and then bake with the springform pan on a cookie sheet because it will leak!) But they are well worth the trouble! Cinnamon rolls are always great! I don't make them very often, but when they're freshly baked they are just SO good!

  14. They were very good! Apple is always our favorite! With lots of cinnamon and nutmeg! And besides, apples make it healthy, right? ;) Unfortunately no leftover cheesecake! It didn't last very long!
